PawsHush ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit pawshush.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here. PawsHush welcomes visitors from around the world, including the United States and the European Union/EEA/UK, and this policy addresses the rights available to both.
Who operates this Site (data controller)
PawsHush is operated from the Czech Republic. For purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the operator of this Site is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy. For questions about who specifically to contact, reach us at hello@pawshush.com.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly. If you sign up for our email series or newsletter, we collect your email address. If you contact us, we collect whatever information you include in your message. Entries you make in tools like the Memory Journal, Grief Timeline Tracker, or Letter to Your Pet are stored locally in your browser and are not transmitted to us or any third party.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our third-party partners automatically collect certain data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URLs, and approximate location (derived from IP address). This is typically collected through cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies for essential site functionality, analytics (to understand how visitors use the Site), and advertising personalization (described below). You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some site functionality.
Advertising and analytics partners
PawsHush is supported in part by display advertising served through Ezoic, an ad-management platform. Ezoic and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. You can learn more about Ezoic's data practices and opt-out options at their privacy policy, and you can review or adjust your ad-personalization choices via the "Consent" or "Privacy" link typically present in Ezoic-served ad units, or through the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.
We also use standard web analytics tools to understand aggregate traffic patterns (e.g., which articles are read most, how visitors navigate the Site). This data is used in aggregate and is not used to personally identify you.
Affiliate links
PawsHush participates in affiliate marketing programs, including but not limited to the Amazon Associates Program, Awin (including Etsy's affiliate program), Impact (including Chewy's affiliate program), and CJ Affiliate. This means that when you click certain links on the Site and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These affiliate networks and their retail partners may set their own cookies to track referrals and may collect data about your browsing and purchase activity in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not have access to your payment information when you make a purchase through an affiliate link — that transaction happens entirely on the retailer's site.
Our editorial recommendations are made independently of any affiliate relationship, and the presence of an affiliate link does not indicate a paid endorsement of that specific product beyond the standard commission structure.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to: operate, maintain, and improve the Site; send the email series or newsletter to subscribers (you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email); respond to inquiries sent through our contact page; understand aggregate usage patterns; detect and prevent fraud or abuse; and serve and measure advertising, as described above.
Legal basis for processing (EU/EEA/UK visitors)
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction that requires a lawful basis for processing personal data, we rely on: your consent (for example, when you subscribe to our email series, or, where required by law, before setting non-essential cookies), which you may withdraw at any time; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Site and understanding aggregate usage, weighed against your rights and interests; and, where applicable, compliance with legal obligations. We do not process your data on the basis of "performance of a contract," since browsing the Site does not require you to enter into a contract with us.
International data transfers
While PawsHush is operated from the Czech Republic (EU), several of our service providers — including Ezoic and its advertising-network partners, Amazon Associates, Awin, Impact, and CJ Affiliate — are based in, or process data in, the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. When personal data is transferred to these providers, we rely on the safeguards they have in place, which may include the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (for providers self-certified under it), Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms. Contact us if you would like more information about the safeguards applicable to a specific transfer.
We do not sell your personal data
PawsHush does not sell your personal information to third parties for money. Some data-sharing arrangements with our advertising partners (such as Ezoic and its ad-network partners) may be considered a "sale" or "share" of personal information under certain state privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), because of how cookies and identifiers are shared for ad personalization. Where required by law, we provide mechanisms to opt out of such sharing — see the "Your privacy choices" section below.
Your privacy choices
California and other U.S. state residents: California (CCPA/CPRA) and a growing number of other states — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and more than 20 states in total as of 2026 — have comprehensive privacy laws that generally give you the right to know what personal information we collect, to correct or delete it, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. Some of these laws also give you the right to appeal a denied request. To make a request or appeal, contact us at the email below; we will respond within the time frame required by the applicable law.
EU/EEA/UK visitors (GDPR/UK GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data; to withdraw consent at any time; and to object to processing carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests, including for advertising purposes. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority or, since PawsHush is established in the Czech Republic, with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů — uoou.cz).
Cookie controls: Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. You may also see a cookie/consent management tool on the Site provided through our ad partner, which allows you to adjust your advertising and analytics cookie preferences directly.
Do Not Track: Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, our Site does not currently alter its behavior based on them.
Children's privacy
PawsHush is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Data retention
We retain email addresses collected for the newsletter for as long as you remain subscribed. Contact form/email correspondence is retained as needed to respond to and document inquiries. Locally stored tool data (Memory Journal, mood tracker, letters) lives only in your browser and is retained or deleted according to your own browser settings — we have no server-side copy of it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected here; we encourage you to review this page periodically.
